Good morning
Good afternoon
Good evening
(and maybe even good night.)

Big thanks to everyone who responded to this video in the SourceCon Facebook group.

My first week as the new SourceCon Editor has been, wow, I'm not sure what the right word is. For that matter, a single word would not do my feelings justice. I feel exhilarated, anxious, and humble by the awesome responsibility I have. First and foremost, thank you to everyone who has pledged their support and wished me the best of luck. You are appreciated. I do not take my editorship lightly (wait, is editorship a word?) and I promise to do all I can for SourceCon to earn a place in your heart. Towards that aim, I am re-launching an old initiative based on feedback from the community. (Say thank you to Erin Matthew, and the 20+ others who liked her comment in the SourceCon Facebook group.)

Starting January 1, 2024, umm... why wait? Starting now, you can earn free tickets to SourceCon by writing articles for the SourceCon blog. However, this time, there will be a twist for this new ChatGPT age. This is the process I have in mind for what I am calling "Sourcers Anonymous." (Insert dramatic music here.)

  1. You submit an article to me via email (for now). In the future, I will likely set up an online form for this.

  2. Submit your article as a Word DOC. Your document should NOT have your name or any other info that will identify who you are. However, aliases are permitted and encouraged. (Only I will know your secret identity.)

  3. Your article will be reviewed by select supporters of the SourceCon community. (The select supporters reviewing the articles have extensive experience with sourcing, recruitment and talent acquisition. They are a multi-faceted, gender diverse, motley crew of misfits who have seen it all and yet, crave more.)

  4. Once the article has been deemed "SourceCon worthy," by myself and the reviewers, I will post it on the SourceCon website with the author’s real name.

  5. When someone has four peer-reviewed articles posted on the SourceCon website, they will be entitled to one ticket for the upcoming SourceCon.

I hope you are as excited about this initiative as I am!!! Oh, in case you are wondering, here is how you can increase the chances of being published on the SourceCon website. The articles will be judged by a variety of factors with two points of view being the most important: your personal sourcing experience and the impact on the sourcing community.

Allow me to elaborate...

Tell us about your personal sourcing experiences. A few suggestions…

  • Share a sourcing related story that was a resounding success, cut your sourcing time in half, or lead you directly to the ever elusive purple squirrel.

  • Share a sourcing related story that was a dismal failure that caused you to crash, burn, and ponder the meaning of life.

  • Describe your thought processes behind your strategies. For example, why did you think hacking into the pentagon database to find candidates with security clearances was a good idea? And… how did you do it? Details matter.

Tell us how your idea, strategy, or exploit impacts the sourcing community. Some questions for inspiration…

  • How will your testimony help Sourcers do their job better?

  • What will Sourcers do differently as a result of your article?

  • Will your article cause TA Managers to rethink how they train their sourcers going forward? (Perhaps, instructing the next generation in utero?)

  • Will the SourceCon community be able to put your advice to immediate use? If not, why not? Inquiring minds want to know.

Good luck to you! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

See you at SourceCon,
