Introducing, The SourceCon Illuminati...

Who are the judges? They are in the shadows. They are the Illuminati.

SourceCon Community,

Depending on when you read this...

Good morning.
Good afternoon.
Good evening.
Good night.

I would like to start off by giving an extra bit of kudos to those who have earned a lifetime pass to SourceCon. You participated in a Grandmaster or Hackathon challenge and beat out your peers, achieving the bragging rights for time immemorial. Be proud of yourself! SourceCon is definitely proud of you. In case you missed some of the social media posts, here are a few people celebrating their wins:  Shannon Tratnyek, Cyndy Davis, Kristin Hughes, Amybeth Quinn, Michael Notaro, Kameron Swinton, Susanna Frazier, Ayon Ryan Kabir, and Jim Schnyder.

I love to see people win and as your SourceCon Editor, I am empowered to produce more winners and I am happy to do so. So many people have been instrumental behind the scenes in making SourceCon a successful conference and community. When I ponder all the people who have volunteered, produced content, evangelized the community, organized challenges, and so on, I am all the more grateful to be part of something so special. I am of the mind to give everyone an award, but that is not the SourceCon way. We are a community so the community should have a hand in what happens next. (Insert cryptic smile here.)

In the upcoming SourceCon conference in Orlando, Florida (Have you registered yet?) we will be presenting the "Quiet Hero" award to someone who truly deserves it. This person has, for years, been instrumental in growing SourceCon's reach and influence by contributing their time, talent, and resources. Who is this person? I have no idea. This is where the community comes in. Click this link and nominate the person(s) you think is worthy of being recognized and why. Your nomination will then be judged by the SourceCon Illuminati. But wait, you say, the what...?

symbol of the sourcecon illuminati

The SourceCon Illuminati are a group of industry leaders and practitioners who will be judging the nominations.

The SourceCon Illuminati are people you know, have seen at SourceCon events, and are quite active on social media.

The SourceCon Illuminati have been sworn to secrecy and pledged by their sacred honor to not reveal who they are to anyone.

The SourceCon Illuminati is prone to pranks. If you see someone claiming to be a member, they could be. Or, they could be lying. Trust no one.

All that to say, click this link and nominate the person(s) you think is worthy of being recognized and why. I'm not in the loop so I will be in the dark as everyone else until the day of SourceCon when I will be presenting the award. At least, that's what I have been told.

SourceCon is like 2 weeks away so nominate NOW and often!

May the source be with you. ;-)

Sincerely,

Jim Stroud

Understanding Spam and its Effects on Your Outreach Engagement

Even if you spend your time personalizing your message with the perfect outreach, it very well might get lost in your prospect’s inbox. For many on the platform, it becomes a number’s game of sending a ton of generic messages in the hopes that one of them lands. More often than not, this results in the sourcer being muted, meaning any future effort the sourcer puts into messaging this talent will be completely lost—what a nightmare!

Pineapple, Pizza & People

Alright, I’m not here to start a war over the world’s one of the most debated topics: pineapple on pizza. Liking or hating pineapple on pizza is a personal choice, but hating or disliking people against your choice is a cognitive bias!

Let’s kick things off with a quick game I played with ChatGPT 🙂 where I provided a word, and it had to respond with what came to mind (system) within the first 5 seconds. Here are the results I received…

Chat GPT is the buzzword all around. The use of AI in recruiting and sourcing has been quite prominent especially in terms of leveraging it to source and qualify candidates. We are living in a talent eco system where companies are heavily invested in using AI to efficiently manage different facets of the recruiting process, be it giving a good candidate experience, finding the right set of candidates, targeted outreach, qualifying candidates, building talent pools, engaging candidate pools for future hiring and so on and so forth.
