Its almost time for SourceCon!!!!!!!!

Almost time to board my flight... ;-)

SourceCon Community

Its almost time for SourceCon. Oh, it soooo close! If you are someone who relies on checklists, here is one to help you get the most of your SourceCon experience.

SourceCon Checklist:

  1. Set goals and expectations. What do you want to achieve at the conference? Network with specific people? Learn about new industry trends? Having defined goals will help you prioritize your time and activities.

  2. Announce your trip on social media. Mention your learning goals, networking goals and the people you want to connect with the most. Give others a chance to reach out to you who are open to helping you reach your networking and learning goals. I would suggest doing this on our Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram pages.

  3. Research Speakers & Schedule: Look at the agenda and speaker information before the event. Familiarize yourself with the topics and speakers and create a schedule that aligns with your goals.

  4. Wear SourceCon merch on the way to the event. This will inspire a chance enounter at the airport and (maybe) help you achieve one of your networking goals before the event even begins.

  5. Share your LinkedIn profile via QR code. LinkedIn offers a personal QR code that links to your profile. While this doesn't send an invitation directly, it allows someone to easily find and connect with you on LinkedIn. You can access your QR code through the LinkedIn mobile app by tapping the search bar and then the QR code icon. This will display your code along with options to share or save it. (Pro tip: Save it as a photo and you won’t have to fumble around with the app when its time to share.)

Here is an example of what your QR code could look like. (And feel free to connect with me by the way.)

Have I missed a step that should’ve been included? Reply back and let me know.

Okay, that’s it from me, at least for now. I am sooo excited!!!

See you (soon) at SourceCon!!!!

Unveiling Hidden Gems: A New Approach to Discovering Talent

In the bustling world of tech recruitment, a fascinating phenomenon exists, somewhat akin to an iceberg in the vast ocean. Consider Capital One, a financial giant known for its technological innovation, where over 2,000 software engineers harness the power of Java. Yet, intriguingly, only about 600 of these experts mention Java in their profiles. This scenario prompts a critical question for tech recruiters and companies alike: “How many Java experts are you overlooking in your talent search?”
